3rd Cross-Border E-Commerce Conference

On December 20, the 3rd Global Conference for Cross-Border E-Commerce was held in Jinhua and was sponsored by the Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, the China Electronic Commerce Association, and the Municipal People's Government. Yin Xuequn, deputy secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and mayor of Jinhua, and Jin Hong, deputy director of the Ministry of Commerce, each delivered a speech. The conference was hosted by Shao Guoqiang, deputy mayor of Jinhua. Lu Cheng, Secretary General of the China Electronic Commerce Association, attended the conference.

In 2015, the Jinyi New Urban District was chosen as the permanent site for the Global Conference for Cross-Border E-Commerce. In recent years, cross-border e-commerce in Jinhua has developed at a rapid pace. In terms of the cross-border area of e-commerce, last year’s export volume reached 17.3 bn RMB, and the express delivery service covered 682 total cities around the world. The total volume of Jinhua’s express deliveries ranked 4th in China. In the first 11 months of 2017, Jinhua’s export volume for cross-border online retail sales reached 21.67 bn RMB, accounting for 54.9% of that of the Zhejiang Province. The quantity of national cross-border trade stabilized at 200,000 orders a day.

The theme of the 3rd Global Conference for Cross-Border E-Commerce was “Service, Technology, Combination and Guidance”; the conference brought a number of domestic and overseas CEOs and executive officers together in Jinhua.

In his speech, Yin Xuequn stated that the Global Conference for Cross-Border E-Commerce provided better conditions and more opportunities for the development of “Buy Global, Sell Global” and for Jinhua’s participation in implementing the Belt and Road Initiative. He also stated that Jinhua has special advantages as a result of its open economy. In terms of transportation, it owns the Yiwu-Ningbo-Zhoushan (YNZ) Corridor and the Yiwu-Europe China Railway Express (CR Express); the city also takes advantage of the comprehensive reform of international trade; it has a fine developing environment that allows for better manufacturing and marketing, and it is supported by an innovative and developing area of cross-border E-commerce. Jinhua will take advantage of the opportunity to hold the Global Conference for Cross-Border E-Commerce in order to implement comprehensive reforms in international trade, develop an open economy, make good use of cross-border e-commerce resources, and take an active role in setting up a China (Jinhua) Cross-border E-Commerce comprehensive experimental area.

Jin Hong mentioned that the Global Conference for Cross-Border E-Commerce focused on the future development of the E-commerce industry and discussed related hot issues; his speech served as a crucial platform for gathering opinions from various fields and was intended to motivate the development of global cross-border E-commerce. Currently, foreign export trade in China is increasing at a rapid speed, and the structure is continuously being optimized, which has much to do with the improvement of the business environment and the development of cross-border E-commerce.
