ZNU Students Attend Int’l Forum

On July 7-8 of 2018, the 7th Sino-European Tourism Forum and the 12th International Conference on Tourism Development and Trends for Commission of Tourism Geography: Geographical Society of China was held in Ningbo. Over 100 experts and scholars as well as 60 graduate students from 8 countries, including China, France, the United States, and Russia, attended the conference.

The theme of the conference was “Tourism Development and the Contemporary Chinese World.” The experts and scholars had a lively discussion focusing on the topics of “Tourism and Ecological Development” “Tourism Development and Rural Revitalization,” and “Tourism Development and Small Town Construction.” Fifteen famous experts from home and abroad, including Zhang Jie, director of the Tourism Research Institute of Nanjing University and director of the tourism geography committee of the Geographical Society of China; Lu Lin, vice president of Anhui Normal University; Zhang Zhaozhi, Xu Hong’gang, and Sun Jiuxia, associate deans of the School of Tourism at Sun Yat-Sen University; Lou Jiajun, professor at East China Normal University; Zhang Lingyun, dean of the Tourism Development Institute of Beijing International Studies University; and Alan Lew, professor at Northern Arizona University and chief editor of Tourism Geographies, all gave keynote speeches. Additionally, five sub-forums were set up with different topics, including “Tourism Development and Rural Revitalization” and “International Vision and Tourism in China.” Six students from the College of Geography and Environmental Science at Zhejiang Normal University (ZNU) attended the conference, and two graduate students and one undergraduate student gave excellent speeches at the sub-forum.

The Sino-European Tourism Forum, initiated by Ningbo University and the University of Angers in 2011, has been held for seven years. It has become an influential academic exchange platform. Students from the College of Geography and Environmental Science at ZNU have participated in the conference many times, and it has expanded their international horizons and raised their level of academic performance.
