ZNU Student Wins Championship
Post Time: 06/08/2018

On August 1, the 2018 Chinese College Students Wushu Championship was held in Hengyang, Hunan Province. Li Yuxi, a sophomore student from Zhejiang Normal University (ZNU) majoring in physical education, won the championship of Piguaquan1 in women’s group C.

It was the first time for Li to participate in the national championship. Before setting off to Hunan, Li carefully checked her equipment and uniform and thought through solutions to emergency situations that might arise. Li said that when she was warming up for the event off stage, she couldn’t help but feel nervous watching the other participants’ excellent performances. However, with her coach’s comfort, she relaxed somewhat.

When it was her turn, she felt relieved to hear the cheers from her classmates and friends. At that time, she just wanted to perform at her best. Happily, she won the championship in the end. (By Wang Jian – Jinhua Daily, translated by Jiao Tingting, edited by Kendra Fiddler)

1. Piguaquan: also known as Piguazhang due to its emphasis on palm techniques. It is often practiced along with Bajiquan and is a style of wushu (Chinese martial arts) that features explosive, long-range power. – From Wikipedia
