2019 Global Youth Business Program
On June 17, 35 foreign youths from 24 countries gathered in Yiwu, a hot spot for entrepreneurial innovation, to start a seven-day journey toward pursuing their dreams. They planned to explore the miracle of Yiwu and find business opportunities through various activities such as visits, salon-type discussions and internships.
At the opening ceremony in the morning, He Shaoqing, assistant dean of Yiwu Business and Technology College, introduced the advantages of the college in the fields of entrepreneurship education and invited the young people to study and start a business in Yiwu. Wu Dan, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Yiwu City, introduced the background, significance, and effectiveness of the Youth Business Program. He expressed his hope that the young talents will use the platform of the Youth Business Program to take root in Yiwu and realize their entrepreneurial dreams, simultaneously promoting the commonwealth of the people. Duo Jia, Yiwu Municipal Standing Committee and deputy mayor, introduced the economic and social development of Yiwu from the perspective of Yiwu as a model city practicing the slogan “mass entrepreneurship and innovation.” Duo encouraged the participants to explore the phenomenon of Yiwu’s development from the perspectives of its market growth and entrepreneurial trends.
Chasing dreams in China and running alongside Yiwu, 106 youths from 41 countries worldwide have been drawn to participate in the program. Since the launch of the Youth Business Program in April 2018, many of them have found business opportunities in Yiwu, such as joining the procurement team of the local markets or becoming an overseas partner of local enterprises. Their dreams of entrepreneurship are coming to life. (Translated by Wei Han, edited by Kendra Fiddler)
