2020: A New Start
The second decade of the 21st century—the 2010s—has passed, and we have entered a new decade. In the past 10 years, great changes have taken place in China. With regard to the GDP, one of the most important indicators to measure the size and strength of a country's economy, for example: China's GDP was 34.85 trillion RMB in 2009. Ten years later, it has reached 97 trillion RMB, an increase of 180%. In 2010, China's GDP surpassed that of Japan to become the second-largest economy in the world. In terms of GDP per capita, which reflects a country's standard of living, GDP per capita in China was 26,000 RMB in 2009, while in 2019, it reached 69,000 RMB, an increase of 1.7 times.
