China-Africa Chamber of Commerce Founded in Yiwu
On the afternoon of January 8, the inaugural meeting of the Yiwu China-Africa Chamber of Commerce was held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Yiwu, involving 141 member companies. Zhu Shun, general manager of Yiwu Jinmin Electric Equipment Co., Ltd., was elected as the first chairman.
With the development of many industries in Yiwu, trade between Yiwu and Africa is increasing. From January to November in 2019, Yiwu’s exports to Africa reached 61.448 billion RMB, with a year-on-year increase of 12.69%. Yiwu’s imports from Africa amounted to 500 million RMB, with a year-on-year increase of 378.14%. Thus it is urgent to establish and develop small commodities industries, integrate industry resources, and collaborate with African markets. The establishment of the China-Africa Chamber of Commerce in Yiwu helps to do that by bridging the trade gap between Yiwu and Africa.
“This Chamber of Commerce is committed to becoming a professional platform for Yiwu to serve Sino-African trade. It will guide Yiwu’s companies to develop in Africa and assist African businessmen to start businesses in Yiwu, which also helps to build and develop Yiwu,” Zhu Shun, president of the Yiwu China-Africa Chamber of Commerce, said.
