Pan’s Team Won Outstanding Science Award

 On January 16, the 2019 Chinese Academy of Sciences presented the Outstanding Scientific and Technological Achievement Award in Beijing. The team of quantum communication for wide-area networks, led by Pan Jianwei, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from Dongyang, were awarded. The award was established in 2002 and is presented every two years. It awards to individuals or groups who made major achievements for the Academy in previous five years. Each time, the total number of awards is no more than 10. 

  The reasons for their award is: For over 10 years, the team has conducted comprehensive research on quantum communication, and has achieved a number of important innovations. They developed the world’s first space quantum experimental satellite, which made a breakthrough on high-precision optical tracking, quantum entanglement and high brightness laser source, and other essential techniques.
