Rattan ball is a kind of unique ancient sport, it has a great number of fans in Southeast Asia and with a long history. In 1982, rattan ball has emerged on the Asian Games as a performance game.

Modern rattan ball is a net competition between two teams. It is a highly ornamental and competitive event. Its small size and light weight are somewhat similar to volleyball. Rattan ball competition is divided into men's and women's doubles, men's and women's trio, men's and women's team and men's and women's four-person. Players can control the ball with their foot, leg, shoulder and head. Both sides must keep the ball off the ground and kick the ball over the net to the other side's field within three times of touching the ball, so as to force the ball to land in the other side's field or make the other side catch the ball out of bounds.

Li Yihong and Chen Liang are classmates of Jinhua Jiufeng professional school. As rattan ball lovers, they joined the school rattan team together in their freshman year of high school. Now they are an enthusiast of rattan ball. However, after entering the rattan team, it was not as simple as they considered. Rattan ball is a combination of team cooperation of volleyball, passing and receiving technology of football and fierce smashing of badminton. Therefore, it is also called foot-play volleyball. Because of the fierce confrontation and difficult training, they once wanted to retreat. After overcoming various difficulties, they were successfully promoted to be the main members of the school rattan team.

Rattan ball competition is the only event that all games are held in Jinhua. At that time, Jinhua sports center gymnasium will be used as the venue for rattan ball competition. At present, the upgrading of the venue has been completed. It is planned to hold the national rattan ball championship in May as a test match.
