On May 11, Zhang Weiwei, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Yiwu Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) and deputy director of the FAO, led a delegation to visit the Consulate General of Belgium in Shanghai. Bruno Jans, consul general for Belgium in Shanghai; Frederic Van Kerrebroeck, consul for economic affairs; and Mattias Debroyer, trade commissioner for the Brussels-Capital Region, attended the reception.
Yiwu will hold the 9th Member Conference of the United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLGASPAC) and the 4th Zhejiang International Sister City Exchange Exhibition from November 13 to 15. The delegation invited Jans to attend and introduce Belgium’s high-quality resources to representatives of Asian-Pacific cities there. Yiwu will also participate in the Metropolis World Congress & Brussels Urban Summit from June 12 to 15.
Jans said that Yiwu was the first city he visited after beginning to serve as consul general, and he looks forward to visiting Yiwu again. The Consulate General of Belgium in Shanghai is willing to facilitate the Yiwu delegation’s visit to Belgium and bridge the way for friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between the two sides.
