On May 18, the Jinhua Tea Culture Research Association held its Fourth Member’s Representative Session and the First Board Meeting of the Fourth Session. Zhuang Lingfei, deputy mayor of Jinhua, and Cai Yan, deputy chairman of the CPPCC Municipal Committee, attended the meeting. Wang Yuefei, vice president of the China International Tea Culture Research Association, was present to congratulate the event.
Jinhua in Zhejiang Province has a long-standing reputation for producing traditional high-quality green tea. Tea is a major industry in Jinhua and plays a crucial role in the entire agricultural supply chain. Tea cultivation provides jobs for 250,000 people and is an important source of income for farmers. It helps improve agricultural efficiency, increase farmers’ earnings, and contribute to the revitalization of rural areas and common prosperity. Jinhua has the largest certified area for organic tea production in the province, covering 28,000 mu (around 1,867 hectares). Tea plantations are spread across 9 counties, cities, and districts in Jinhua, with an annual value of 200 million RMB. Jinhua ranks second in the province in terms of matcha production, with 361 tons valued at 72.58 million RMB.
In recent years, Jinhua has been dedicated to developing a strong tea industry and has made significant advancements in enhancing tea production in terms of quality, scale, mechanization, standardization, branding, and industrialization. Significant achievements have been made in various areas, including infrastructure development, improving tea varieties, refining production processes, elevating product quality, establishing recognized brands, expanding market presence, and nurturing industry participants.
During the meeting, the third council of the Jinhua Tea Culture Research Association presented a comprehensive work report. Additionally, elections were held to appoint members for the fourth council. The meeting also acknowledged and honored outstanding individuals who have contributed to the promotion and popularization of Jinhua’s tea culture, organized notable tea events in Jinhua, and produced excellent research papers in the field of tea studies.
