On June 1, the China National Intellectual Property Administration held a promotion campaign at Jinzi Ham Co., Ltd, Jinhua Development Zone. Nearly 30 reporters from 12 central media agencies—including People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, China Media Group—and five local newspapers, including Zhejiang Daily, attended the campaign to interview the company with the theme of “geographical indication and common prosperity.”

Jinhua ham was approved as a ‘geographical indication’ product in 2002. Jinhua ham was registered as a trademark in 2007 and recognized as a well-known trademark in 2013. In 2021, Jinhua was approved as a demonstration zone of the national geographical indication product Jinhua ham. Today, the Jinhua ham industry has become one of the essential local industries. Currently, the annual output amounts to 4 million hams, with a total production value of 2.5 billion RMB, benefiting 2,500 households.

Under the leadership of the Intellectual Property Office of Jinhua Municipal Market Supervision Administration, the Market Supervision Bureau of the Development Zone is committed to optimizing the product management system for Jinhua Ham as a geographical indication product, improving the quality of the ham, and empowering the ham industry by supportive policies.

At the same time, the Jinhua Development Zone is working on the protection and cultural inheritance of geographical indication products, such as organizing the Ham Cultural Festival, building the Ham Museum, and telling the story of the Jinhua ham.

Jinzi Ham Co., Ltd. is the first listed company in the ham industry in China. The company is constructing Asia’s most extensive meat product digital intelligent industrial base. Once the production base is completed, the annual production capacity of meat products will reach 50,000 tons, including 1.5 million hams, offering more than 400 new jobs.
