[Digital industrialization] In recent years, Yiwu has actively pursued investment promotion and attraction, establishing the largest information and optoelectronics industry cluster in the province. The city’s digital economy has seen significant growth, aiming to become a leading digital economy. As a national-level industrial platform, considering Yiwu’s digital industry growth, what is the next key focus for the digital industry in the Economic Development Zone?
Response from the Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee: At the first meeting of the New Year, there was proposed the No.1 Development Project for enhancing innovation and quality in the digital economy. As a national-level development zone, it is our responsibility to make significant contributions in this field. Over the years, under the guidance of the Municipal Party Committee and Government, we’ve implemented 59 key industrial projects, generating a total output value of 96.6 billion RMB in 2022. The intelligent photovoltaic sector has become the province’s first prominent core area for characteristic industries. The digital economy scale reached 91.3 bn RMB last year. However, when comparing with digitally advanced counties like Binjiang and Yuhang, there’s a significant gap, indicating much potential for growth.
Firstly, we aim to strengthen the digital economy industry system. In this regard, we aim to enhance the existing industrial chain by supporting the production of companies like Aiko Solar and Chint Project in the information and optoelectronics sector. We will also work on enhancing materials and supply chains. In addition, we are making efforts to attract projects in the chip industry, which has shown promising results in recent years. We’re also looking to attract more projects in the chip industry and transform factories to be more digitalized, providing significant growth opportunities for Yiwu. By upgrading our factory infrastructure, we can enhance Yiwu’s capabilities and competitiveness. We’re also promoting digital transformation in traditional industries. There is potential in digitizing these industries. For example, this year, Huatong Group is exploring the manufacturing of solid-state batteries as part of its transformation efforts.
Secondly, efforts will be made to attract leading enterprises in these industries. The goal is to actively pursue opportunities in emerging sectors of the digital economy, such as smart manufacturing, AI, robotics, telecommunications, and other emerging digital economy fields. We are particularly focused on attracting leading enterprises in these industries.
The advancement of the digital economy brings new opportunities. We appeal to the National People’s Congress representatives and the people of Yiwu to introduce more projects to the Economic and Technological Development Zone. We are committed to effectively implementing these tasks, providing good service, and contributing significantly to Yiwu’s digital economy.
