On the afternoon of August 14, leaders from Fudan University visited Yiwu. They held discussions on cooperation matters. During the meeting, Qiu Xin, Party secretary of Fudan University; Jin Li, president of Fudan University; and Zhu Chonglie, secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, each delivered speeches.

Xu Zheng, executive vice president of Fudan University, presided over the event. Attendees included Jin Haiyan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of Fudan University; Xu Lei, vice president of Fudan University; Chen Yugang, member of the Party Committee of the Standing Committee and minister of the Publicity Department of Fudan University; and city leaders Wang Jian, Li Xiongwei, Ye Bangrui. During the event, Fudan University unveiled the Party Member Volunteer Service Team Training Practice Base at the Communist Manifesto Exhibition Hall, along with the inauguration of the Global Communication All Media Platform’s “Communist Manifesto First Translation Research Center.” Additionally, a signing ceremony for the Institute-Enterprise Joint Laboratory took place.

Qiu Xin expressed gratitude for the interest shown by Zhejiang, Jinhua, and Yiwu in Fudan University and its Yiwu Research Institute. Qiu Xin emphasized that the establishment of the Yiwu Research Institute is a significant step aligned with both the city and the university’s engagement in major national strategies like the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta. This effort shows the university’s dedication to being firmly established in China, actively supporting local growth, and is an essential aspect of accelerating the construction of the “first Fudan.”

Jin Li highlighted the encouraging progress made by the Yiwu Research Institute since the signing of the joint agreement in 2019. Fudan University intends to continue enriching the institute’s talent attraction. Their goal is to cultivate recruitment, making it a hub for top global talent. The university will focus on enhancing the institute’s services and capabilities for the local community, ensuring alignment with Yiwu’s requirements.

On behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government, Zhu Chonglie welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude for the university’s support towards Jinhua’s development. He mentioned that Fudan University and Jinhua have maintained a close collaborative relationship, particularly through the establishment of the Fudan University Yiwu Research Institute, which has been essential in pushing forward Jinhua’s efforts for high-quality development.

During the visit, the delegation toured various facilities at the Fudan University Yiwu Research Institute, including the Advanced Manufacturing Center for new materials, devices, and equipment; the Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering Center; the Global Communication All Media Research Center; and the Humanities platform focusing on research related to the Belt and Road and global governance.
